St John Ambulance is seeking volunteers in Harleston and the surrounding area to help open a new Cadet unit in September 2027.
The charityβs South Norfolk Network plans to establish the unit at Sancroft Academy. It is recruiting one Cadet Unit Leader and two Youth Leaders to form the volunteer leadership team and help run the group.
The new Harleston Cadet unit will be open to young people aged 11 to 17. Cadets will take part in activities focused on first aid, leadership, teamwork and volunteering, helping them gain lifesaving skills, build confidence and support their local community.
Recruitment of Cadets will begin once the volunteer leadership team is in place and trained.
Cadet Unit Leaders and Youth Leaders deliver activities, support young members and help them develop practical first aid knowledge and wider life skills.
New volunteers will receive the training and ongoing support needed for their roles. Once trained, they will also have the opportunity to volunteer at local events and provide first aid alongside other St John Ambulance volunteers.
No previous experience of working with Cadets is required.
The planned opening will take place in the year St John Ambulance celebrates the 150th anniversary of its foundation.
