The 74 Year 6 children from Firside Junior School spent three days at the outdoor adventure centre, where activities on offer included archery, kayaking, buggy building, crate stacking, trapeze, and even tomahawk throwing.
Assistant Headteacher Lucy Seagrave underlined the importance of the trip, which comes as the cohort prepares to progress to secondary school.
βThe Year 6 residential is a much-loved milestone in our school calendar, and marks the culmination of the childrenβs four-year journey with us,β she said.
βIt provides a fitting opportunity for pupils to celebrate the friendships they have built, reflect on how much they have grown, and create lasting memories before moving on to the next stage of their education.β
The trip was organised by Jade Parker, Year 6 Teacher and Head of Year at Firside, which is a member of the Wensum Trust.
Mrs Seagrave continued: βWhether climbing, kayaking, problem solving, or taking part in outdoor challenges, the children are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, try something new, and discover what they are capable of.
βThese experiences help to build confidence, perseverance, and self-belief.β
She added: βAbove all, the Year 6 residential is about personal growth. It gives children the chance to develop independence, confidence, and resilience in a fun and memorable setting.
βAs they prepare for secondary school, the residential provides a wonderful opportunity for them to reflect on how far they have come, and to leave with a shared sense of achievement, friendship, and excitement for the future.β
