The 58 Year 5 pupils arrived at Kinsale Junior School for Harry Potter Day dressed as characters from the popular books by JK Rowling, before being sorted into the four Hogwarts houses, ready for a series of themed activities.
Hannah Mossop is a Year 5 teacher at the school, and helped organise the event, which also featured some Hedwig-like, avian visitors.
βThe children had a session with βHoot With Meβ owl company, who brought some owls in and answered questions about them too,β she said.
βThe children made their own wands using sticks we had collected ourselves. We then made our very own butterbeer concoction, which the children enjoyed tasting.β
The action-packed day concluded with an in-class showing of the first Harry Potter film, which supported the pupilsβ classroom studies at the school, which is a member of the Wensum Trust.
Miss Mossop added: βThe children have been using Harry Potter and the Philosopherβs Stone in their English, alongside Fantastic Beasts, to create a non-chronological report of their own.
βEvents like these are important, as they give children inspiration for their writing, and experiences they may not have outside of school.β
